Terms of use

The maps, records and notes here are for identification and general interest. They are not medical advice and not a guarantee that an animal is or is not present in a place.

If someone is bitten or stung, call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. Never handle a snake, spider or scorpion to identify it.

Occurrence data comes from GBIF.org and the institutions and observers who publish to it. Our presence verdicts combine those records with published ranges, and both can be incomplete. Animals move, records can be wrong and ranges change.

Photos belong to their authors and are used under the licenses shown next to each one. Our own text and the derived state verdicts may be reused under CC BY 4.0 with a link to this site.
